Long time no post....

You know how it is, you keep meaning to update your blog but never seem to get around to it...
Anyway I've been busy crafting away and here are a few of the items I've made.  First some very brightly coloured Easter Bunnies - I got the pattern off the net (sorry can't find the link!) then had to resize the pattern to fit the squares of felt I had.  Both my lovely girls adored them.

I also absolutely loved the pattern in Crochet Today for the little kitty cats.  As the majority of my stash is DK though I used it instead of worsted and a smaller hook.  Can't wait for the next edition of Crochet Today and the Dutch outfit for the cats!

One of my friends was kind enough to give me a ball of Lilly Sugar n Cream and as there was enough to make two wash cloths I made one for her but haven't got around to making one for me yet!

I bought a pot of tete a tete from Tesco but didn't have a suitable pot to put them in so whipped up this little cover using UK double treble stitches so it would work up fast.

The above brooch I made for my Mum who recently turned the grand young age of 70!  I started off doing the Irish rose pattern from 100 Flowers to Knit & Crochet but got stuck after the 2nd round so just did my own thing....

And finally a couple of thistles for my friend too.  The pattern was also from 100 Flowers to Knit & Crochet but this time I managed to follow the pattern!

Currently I'm hooking up two things from Lucy of Attic24, a bag and a ripple blanket.  I might get them finished if I didn't keep slotting in other projects in between :-)

BizJet for Honeycomb (10.1)

 

I'm so very proud of my hubby!  He has written an Android app for the Citation XLS business jet.  Here's what he wrote about it below:

Based on the Citation XLS business jet, BizJet is a great reference tool for pilots who fly this aircraft and equally an interesting learning tool for aviation enthusiasts of all ages...

With a simple user interface throughout, this first release showcases the main and auxiliary annunciators (warning/info lights), which monitor all the major systems of the aircraft that can be displayed to the flight crew enabling them to operate the aircraft safely during ground and flight operations.

It's great fun to use and packed full of information, giving an insight into the workings of a modern aircraft. If anyone is interested here's the link to Google Play :-)

Ripple...

Currently on the hook is a ripple blanket.  I'm really happy with how it's coming along.  I'm using the Neat Ripple Pattern from Attic24 - so easy to follow with great how-to photos.  It's quite relaxing to do, so easy to memorise and a good bit of hooky to accompany a bit of TV watching...

I took this picture over a week ago so its grown a bit more since then.

St. Patrick's Day 2012

We were lucky enough to take part in this year's St. Patrick's day parade.

The weather was glorious to begin with but weather in Ireland can be rather changeable and we soon had rainclouds scudding across the sky.

I managed to take a few pictures although being in the middle of the parade meant I didn't get to take pictures of all the wonderful floats, bands, clubs and other dancing schools.

Here our little group are following the lines on the road into town along the procession.

One of the floats we saw at the end of the parade when the sun chose to peek out from behind the rainclouds once more.

We stood and watched for a while as the rest of the procession ended and I couldn't resist taking a snap of this lovely caravan.






All in all a very enjoyable day and the streets were packed despite the rain.

Poncho

Finally finished my poncho last week so thought I'd better put it on here.  I'm really pleased with how it worked out and the fact it fits!

It was so simple to make too so here are a few easy instructions.

I used : 5 balls of 100g DK wool (Marble by James C Brett), 5mm hook and a darning needle.

I made 2 rectangular panels approx 50cm x 90cm although exact sizing isn't important.

1. chain 83 then tr into 4th chain from hook.  Tr to end, ch 3 & turn.

2. Next row tr into next st then *Ch1, miss 1 tr, tr into next stitch* to last 2 stitches, tr into next 2 stitches. Ch 3, turn.

3. Repeat row 2.

Just repeat these 3 rows, ending on a row 1 until your panel is approx 90cm.  Make one more panel then play around with them, attaching one short edge to the long edge of the other panel then attaching the remaining long and short edge (this is the bit that confused me so you really need to play around!) Once you've done that edge the neck and lower edge with either 1 or 2 rows of dc, weave in ends and you're done!

Crackers & Socks!

I just had a hankering this morning for something to go with my coffee.....

Hmmm cream crackers with peanut butter and cranberry sauce!  Honest they were scrummy!

 On the crochet front I've finally completed my first ever pair of crochet socks! 

I chose a pattern from the Red Heart website which was fairly simple as it was all done in single crochet (or double for us English sorts).

I did sc for the toes and heels then hdc (or htr lol) for the foot and ankle part as I didn't want the same stitch throughout.  I'm rather pleased with the results I must say!
